Internet
There are thousands of websites that offer advice on how to write resumes. In preparing for the recent resume teleconferences I may have looked at as many as 50 or 60 of these. Many sites were already familiar to me, though I stumbled across several that were frightening and at least one pleasant surprise.
The following list by no means includes all the worthy career and resume sites on the Internetjust a fraction. But for the most part they are sites I have returned to over the years and have found reliable and durable. All but one (noted below) have either numerous articles or a lengthy and structured tutorial. Most of them also speak to the cover letter and thank-note.
http://www.jobseekersadvice.com - A long popular site.
http://susanireland.com/resumework.htm - Ms. Ireland has been dispensing her advice on resumes and other features of the job search for two or three decades.
http://www.blueskyresumes.com/index.html - A favorite site with a nice tone and lovely colors.
http://www.quintcareers.com - QuintCareers (Quintessential) has been the best all around career site for a decade and is still going strong. Apart from Quint's excellent resume resources it currently features an up-to-date piece on, Your Recessionary Job Article.
http://www.palladiancr.com/resume-advice - This was the pleasant surprise that I stumbled across. Excellent resources, including a nifty piece on the importance of resume filenames.
http://www.rockportinstitute.com/resumes.html - One classic article on the resume.
http://www.deed.state.mn.us/cjs/cjsbook/resume1.htm - An online publication of the State of Minnesota, it has a solid and methodical approach to the topic and might be a good place to refer clients.
http://www.cdm.uwaterloo.ca/step4_2.asp - Also solid, though more lively.
http://www.eresumes.com - Diverse resources on the resume and other aspects of the job search.
www.humanmetrics.com - this website has a free Jung Typology Test which provides your type formula according to Carl Jung along with strengths of the preferences and the description of your personality type.
www.bls.gov/oco/ - this is the Occupational Outlook Handbook.
www.myskillsmyfuture.org - which is a skills assessment.
www.citytowninfo.com/places - which is great for relocation information.
www.salaryexpert.com/ - which has information and comparisons regarding occupational salaries.
www.i-recruit.com/index.html - This is a recruiter website but recruiters represent a small portion of a job search.
www.rileyguide.com/staff.html - recruiters and staffing firms
www.lasvegas.nevada.gov - City of Las Vegas link that opens up employment and other governmental agencies.
Paper
Again, there is a wealth of resources. Here's my favorite:
